If you are looking for the perfect family get away then, this place is a must! The Texan, located in Grapevine TX, is one of the five Gaylord Resorts in the United States. This magnificent resort offers over 1,300 hotel rooms, 7 restaurants/bars/cafes, a spa, an indoor and outdoor pool, an outdoor waterpark, a fitness center, and even a small arcade. It’s practically a city within one building, with beautiful atrium ceilings that make you feel like you are outdoors. I definitely recommend that every family stay at a Gaylord Resort at least once. It’s such a unique experience.
The rooms are pretty hotel standard, but of course, they do have suites available if that’s your style. We had a room with two double beds and a balcony that faced the indoor atrium. If it’s within your budget, I definitely recommend getting a room with a balcony overlooking the atrium, the view is so beautiful. Rooms offer two bottles of water, an iron, a hairdryer, a small work desk, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, and plenty of electrical outlets. We found the room to be very comfortable and were very pleased…especially Sofia, she is obsessed with hotel rooms.
Paradise Springs at The Gaylord Texan
The resort offers an outdoor waterpark – the 10 acre Paradise Springs, which is open in the summer, admission is complimentary for hotel guests (up to a limit of 4 per guest room) and there is even a trolly that take you to and from the resort. The waterpark includes a lazy river, family lagoon, and three water slides. It’s a great place to cool down in the Texas heat!
The resort is completely kid-friendly, with loads of activities for families. This summer, they hosted a Peter Pan themed SummerFest event, complete with scavenger hunt, pajama dance party, escape room, and much more.
They also host an annual holiday event, A Lone Star Christmas. The theme changes on an annual basis, this year it will be, A Charlie Brown Christmas. Also including the popular ICE! event, ice skating, tubing, and much more. The resort is decorated for the holidays, and is absolutely stunning.
In addition to these special events, we really just love wandering around the atriums of the Gaylord Texan. The resort so beautiful, there are cool spaces around every corner, and it’s really fun for kids to see. I’m pretty sure Sofia thought we were outside the entire time.
